A successful sale starts with quality. Not just the quality of the product itself, but also how you present it. At Troostwijk Auctions, we see every day that lots with clear descriptions and sharp photos perform better in auctions and are easier to find.
Why lot quality matters
A clear lot description improves visibility in search engines like Google, as well as on our platform. It also reduces questions from potential buyers, making the sales process more efficient.
How to improve the quality of your lot
- Use the correct category
Always choose the most relevant category. This affects how and where your lot appears. Avoid using the “miscellaneous” category unless absolutely necessary. - List brand and model exactly
Copy the brand and model directly from the product. This helps buyers search and filter more accurately. - Include objective measurements and details
Avoid estimates and vague terms like “as good as new” or “unique.” Describe what you see in clear, factual terms. - Photograph like a professional
Use landscape orientation, avoid clutter, and ensure the entire item is clearly visible. Include close-ups of nameplates, serial numbers, or any damage. - Be complete
Make sure the item is functionally complete. If an essential part is missing, clearly mention this in the description (e.g., “Note: Charger not included”). - Avoid language barriers
Do not use Dutch abbreviations or unclear terms that are hard to translate. This helps international bidders understand your lot without confusion.
What’s in it for you?
- Increased visibility
- Greater buyer confidence
- Fewer questions and a faster sales process
- Higher chance of a better sale price
A high-quality lot won’t sell itself, but it will go further.
