How are we addressing this issue?

We are taking action on multiple fronts:

• Stricter follow-up: A dedicated team follows up with non-paying buyers on a daily basis and actively encourages relisting of unpaid lots.
• Smarter payment reminders: Our communication has been sharpened to prompt buyers to take action more quickly.
• More security for high-value lots: For lots with higher values, we collect part of the bid amount in advance to limit the risk.
• Pilot with bid deposits: In certain cases, we require a deposit before bidding is allowed, especially for new or high-risk accounts.
• Improved registration process: We are reviewing our registration procedures to block suspicious accounts at an early stage.

How are we improving registration?

As part of this project, a new system has been launched. This system uses smart technology to detect potentially fraudulent bidders before they win a lot. Since its launch, the system has automatically flagged high-risk users, and the initial results are promising:

• Users marked as high-risk are required to pay a bid deposit
• Abuse is actively discouraged, as the deposit is retained in case of non-payment

This leads to more serious bidders, improved platform reliability, and ultimately: greater certainty for you as a seller that your lot will actually be paid for.

We are rolling out these measures gradually to maintain the right balance between user experience and security. At the same time, we continue to optimise the system based on data and field feedback.
