Direct sales: another way to find the right buyer

Auctions it at the heart of what we do at Troostwijk Auctions, but we have news! Since July, we have also been offering another option for selected assets: direct sales.

A direct sale can be a good choice for unique, specialised or high-value industrial assets with a smaller group of potential buyers. Instead of creating competition within a short auction period, we take the time to identify and approach the buyers most likely to be interested.

How does a direct sale work?

After you have made the decision with your account manager to sell an item via direct sale, we will identify relevant buyers and promote the asset to the right audience. Prospective buyers can view the asset by appointment and submit a confidential offer through our platform.

Other buyers cannot see the offers that have been made, and we do not publish an asking price. This allows each interested party to make an offer based on their own assessment of the asset.

Unlike an auction, a direct sale does not have a fixed closing date. The asset remains available until a suitable offer is received and you agree to the sale. We stay in close contact with you throughout the process, so the final decision is always made together.

Once an offer has been accepted, payment is handled securely through our platform, just as it is with an auction. If dismantling is required, this can be arranged with one of Troostwijk Auction's trusted partners or carried out by the buyer or seller, depending on the agreement.

When is a direct sale suitable?

The best sales method depends on the asset, its value, the market and the ideal time frame. If there is a broad market and the asset needs to be sold quickly, an auction is often the right approach. Its fixed closing time encourages interested buyers to act and bid.

Direct sales work differently. They are especially suitable when:

  • The asset is unique, specialised or potentially high in value
  • The number of potential buyers is limited
  • Buyers need more time to assess the asset and make a decision
  • There is enough time to find and approach the right buyers

Your account manager will discuss the options with you and help determine which sales method is most suitable for your situation.

We have already successfully sold several assets through direct sales and continue to connect special items with interested buyers. Direct-sale listings have their own page on our website, but they can also be found through the regular search.

Curious whether a direct sale could be suitable for one of your assets? Speak with your Troostwijk Auctions account manager to explore the possibilities.
